Personal Statement
Ever since I was a child, technology has been my passion. I remember sitting at the desk of my mother’s home office disassembling her office desktop computer and being fascinated with all the internal components that make up a computer. I still remember her reaction when she walked into the office to see her desktop computer in pieces. I remained calm, cool, and collected while explaining to her and showing her the different types of hardware inside the computer case. It was at this moment I realized that I enjoyed tackling complex projects and being able to demonstrate or present my discoveries to the people around me without hesitation. Throughout middle and high school, I began to explore the world of technology in both hardware and software. In high school, I received my first digital literacy certification.
My passion for technology has carried me through my education at South Texas College. There were more resources available to me than I could have ever imagined as a kid. I studied programming languages, syntax, networking, and even database analysis to name a few. It was at South Texas College is where I learned that I was only scratching the surface with technology.
So, now in the industry, the passion for technology remains with me. Because of my profession, I could explore the various types of technologies used in school districts and develop instructional learning units for teaching both students and employees. There is certainly yet more to learn, yet more problems to solve, and yet more to teach. And for this, I am very grateful.
